Have a question about seeing the dentist?

If we haven’t answered your question here, contact us.

  • Of course! Dr Paul and Dr Nick are always happy to accept new patients. Bookings can be made online at your convenience or if you prefer to talk to a human, please call the surgery on 3354 3122.

  • Dental phobia is very common. It is in fact the second highest fear in the community after public speaking!

We take special care when treating anyone who is anxious about dental treatment. Our warm and friendly staff are available to speak with you about any concerns you may have. We have created a warm and inviting practice that feels more like a home than a clinical setting. Dr Paul and Dr Nick will take the time to discuss all your concerns and will ensure that you are comfortable and in control the entire time.

We offer options to help reduce stress and anxiety during treatment. Nitrous Oxide (happy gas) or Penthrox (the green whistle). These make most people very relaxed and comfortable within minutes. Both are totally safe and when the procedure is finished, you will be able to drive to and from your appointment. Happy gas is also safe to use on children, who might feel apprehensive about treatment.

For long visits eg wisdom teeth/implants crown preps and root canal treatment we also offer pre-operative sedative for patients with severe dental anxiety. If you would like more information on Nitrous Oxide sedation and other alternatives, please speak to one of our friendly staff members.

  • Dr Paul and Dr Nick will go through your medical and dental history and discuss any questions or concerns you may have about your oral health. They will then conduct a thorough examination of your mouth and jaw. Photographs, scans and/or x-rays may be taken to get a closer view. Your teeth will be cleaned gently and a fluoride treatment may be applied.

If further treatment is required, your dentist will discuss all your options and associated costs in an open, easy to understand way.

  • We understand that even the best made plans can go astray. Please contact the practice as soon as you can, to arrange an alternate appointment. The appointment time has been allocated to you and other patients may have been turned away. So please be considerate. If you can no longer make the appointment, please allow us time to offer it to someone else who may need it. We ask that you give us at least 24 hrs notice when rescheduling an appointment. Repeated cancellations will incur a fee of $50. Cancellation fees (up to $200) will also apply where a long appointment time (>45 min) has been set aside for scheduled treatment if sufficient notice is not given.

  • Toothaches are quite serious and should not be ignored or left for days, even if your face is swollen. Antibiotics and painkillers are NO substitute for active dental treatment. At Everton House Dental, we schedule emergency appointments that are available on the day for toothaches. If your child has a toothache or has had a fall, we will see them immediately as our priority. Please call the practice so we can help you.

  • Teeth have a way of misbehaving outside of practice hours! You can contact the practice after hours and leave us a message. Our friendly staff will contact you first thing on the next business day to arrange an appointment. Alternatively, you can book online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

  • Ideally, we should see your child from around the age of 3. We recommend bringing them along with you at your regular appointment. Their first visit will usually involve a ride in the chair, some play, and a discussion on diet and oral hygiene. We endeavour to make your child’s visits fun and positive. Our little patients have loved coming back over the years and indeed end up bring their own children to us also.

  • If your child has had an accident, please contact the practice immediately. Treating your injured child is our top priority, and you will be seen right away. We understand that it can be very stressful and will do our best to ensure you and your child are comfortable.

If an adult tooth has been knocked out, contact the practice immediately as time is of the essence. If you are unable to come straight down, try and place the tooth back into the socket. The next best thing is to place the tooth in a cup of milk, do not rinse with water or wipe the tooth. We will see you as soon as possible. Once the tooth has been re-implanted, we will discuss any further treatment required.

In case of serious injury after hours Dr Paul (0434 163 755) or Dr Nick (0422 711 047 ) will take your call if available and provide the best possible advice for your circumstances.

  • Congratulations, this is very exciting! There are a lot of misconceptions about dental treatment and pregnancy out there. It is important to educate yourself and aim to have a healthy mouth before you conceive and maintain your routine maintenance checks to avoid pregnancy induced gingivitis. Routine dental x-rays can be postponed until after baby is born but may be taken if there is an emergency.

Research has shown that when the mother has a healthy decay-free mouth, the child is far less likely to have dental cavities. This is because the decay-causing bacteria are transmitted to the baby through kissing and tasting food. If these bacteria are not present, or have been eliminated from your mouth, the bacteria which colonise your baby’s mouth will be healthy happy bacteria which will support a healthy happy mouth for your baby.

  • We support a wide range of health funds. We are also both Bupa preferred and HCF preferred dental providers and care for both Veterans Affairs and CDBS eligible patients. After your dental visit, we will simply swipe your health fund card through the HICAPS terminal and enter your claim details. Within seconds, you claim will be authorised and you simply pay the applicable gap—the difference between the fee for treatment and the health fund claim. We have EFTPOS available to settle the gap with your debit or credit card. We also accept cash.
